Toddler (1 – 2 Years)
Our curriculum is designed to stimulate language, fine motor skills, gross motor stimulation and social skills. At this age, the children are introduced to our Specialty Rooms. They follow a daily schedule, and utilize the Art, Computer, and Music room every week. They go to our indoor gym and outdoor playground (weather permitting) twice a day. They learn through age-appropriate toys, books and music. The teachers do a daily project with them, read many stories, and introduce them to flash cards.
At this age, the children transition from a crib to a cot. Parents provide a sheet and blanket and a favorite stuffed animal. The children are gradually introduced to our snacks and hot lunch. Parents are given the monthly lunch and snack menu, and have the option to bring in lunch and snacks from home to suit the child’s taste and/or allergies. At registration, the parents are given a daycare knapsack which will help them transport everything between home and school. Each child is assigned a cubby with their name on it, where parents keep extra clothes. Bottles, diapers, baby food, and containers are all provided by the parent, and should be labeled with the child’s name on it. By the end of the first year, children will start to be weaned off the bottle, and introduced to a sippy cup.
Upon picking up your child at the end of each day, you will be given a daily information sheet as to everything your child has done during the day, how much they ate, drank, how long they napped, and when they were changed. The teacher will also let you know what you are running low on, and what you need to bring in.
Caring for your child comes first, and we would like to be your “home away from home” for both you and your child.
